A Shadow

I am a shadow,
People are the light;
Without the people to shine,
I slowly vanish out of sight.

When all depart,
The light is gone,
And I fade away,
Until all that remains,
Is the shell that barely exists,
And the only part that lives
Is my dying broken heart.

I am nothing but a shadow.
Please don't turn out the light.
