3 (who?)
The brown dragon looked upon the water
And his mirror brother looked up to him;
"Tell me my brother," the brown dragon said,
"Exactly what kind of dragon am I?"

The brown dragon of the water smiled back
And after a pause of thought he answered;
"Brother, you are a valiant dragon,
With courage that inpires the fearful.

You have a fire burning in your heart
As hot as the flame of your dragon's breath.
There is nothing you cannot accomplish,
With your enthusiasm and passion."

The brown dragon was taken aback and
With confusion he asked his reflection,
"Surely you jest, brother of the water?
I am no knight or hero, my brother;

I look at myself and see only fear,
The trembling fool afraid of the unknown;
I think of tomorrow and I panic
For the dawn could bring me failure, brother."

The dragon paced along the water's edge
As thoughts of doubt and fear raced through his mind;
Every day he feared that he would fail and
Lose everything that he held so dearly.

The reflection smiled proudly as he laughed
With a calm voice he answered his brother,
"Such a foolish soul you are, my brother,
To not know yourself as well as I do.

Even with your lack of self-awareness,
Fear not sweet fool, I shall look after you;
Just do as I say and we will succeed,
I know you better than you do, my friend."

Confusion quickly turned into anger
And his tone, once calm and timid, now was
As fiery as the flames in his throat;
He looked back at his reflection and snapped.

"How dare you speak to me with such a tone,
Remember proud fool that without me you
Would be nothing but ripples in a pond."

Fire danced around each word that he spoke.

Whilst the brown dragon seethed with smokey breath
The reflection laughed with such mocking tone,
"You hot-headed and irritable fool,
What coward shows such fiery passion?

You fear failure out of stupidity
So inept are you that you cannot see
What wonders we could accomplish with our
Resourcefulness, bravery and passion.

The reason you come to this pond, brother
Is so that you can get my assurance
That you cannot offer yourself because
As we both know, I am the better half."

With a cry of rage, the dragon took flight
And unleashed hellfire against the pond
His rage and fear all gathered into it
As all below him burned to ash and steam.

The flames died as did the dragon' rage and
His brother of the water had vanished
Evapourated into nothingness
His criticisms and taunts now silent.

The dragon sat on the ground and wondered
How he could be in two minds of himself
So calm and proud and arrogant and yet
So afraid and angry and uncertain?

Two minds in conflict with each other and
Arguing through water's reflection, yet
The question once asked remain unanswered;
"Exactly what kind of dragon am I?"
This is for the DeviantArt 12th Birthday: Chinese Horoscope Contest.

Basically I had to create a deviation based upon the dragon and the personality traits attributed to them being:

"Resourceful, Self-Assured, Adaptable, Original, Valiant, Enthusiastic, Arrogant, Hot-Headed, Unpredictable, Critical, Irritable, Discourteous."

The form of the poem is fairly simple, ten syllables per line in a four line per stanza format.

Hope you enjoy ^_^

Turned out as a great poem though, I do approve. It shows a big story in such a small form, it's self-explanatory but still leaves a lot to the imagination. Great work on this one mate
