Every night is always the same
I lie awake wondering if I was to blame;
Things just aren't the way they seem
Was our love only a dream?

I cried with joy when you said "I love you"
After I had waited for so long
And to rest of the world
It was just three little words
But in my heart it was an angel's song

That moment will stay with me forever
That day is always fresh in my mind
But through all I've done and sacrificed
I never thought I'd be the one left behind

So here I am crying again
Hating the right now and wishing it was back then
I want to revist the past
Even if it don't last
I just want to hold you again
Here I am wishing you were by my side
To free me from this pain that I can't hide
Turn out the lights and close the door
And let me dream forevermore

Why did we ever stop dreaming
When the dream felt so right?
And why am I stumbling in darkness
When once I lived in light?

Maybe I'm losing my senses
And maybe I'm losing my mind
But sometimes you've got to go over the edge
To get the answers that you just can't find!

Here I am standing in the rain
Crying out your name, but it's all in vain
Desperately clinging to a memory
This is not the way it's meant to be!
Here I am standing at your door
Begging for the chance to dream once more
How can I smile when things are this way?
How can I have a good tomorrow without a good today?

This pain of mine is not just a phase
My love for you grows through the passing days
I could try to deny it, but I'd be lying
Without your love, my heart is dying

So here I am crying again

Wrote this across two shifts at work and a few minutes at home. This song is about reflecting on a love that didn't quite make it.

It's never easy - but that is the power and risk of love.

I love your use of repeating the beginning of lines, like:
"How can I smile when things are this way?
How can I have a good tomorrow without a good today?"
Another thing that I liked was how you brought the poem full-circle, by ending with the first stanza.

Funny how I was reading this and thinking "This should be a song" and got to your comments and was like "Oh, it is."
