Literature Text

I stand on a bridge of glass,
A drop below me of a thousand feet.
The cold grasp of fear chokes me,
As my anxious heart beats.

My feet tremble upon the pane,
Thin melted sand my only defence,
From the long trip down to Heaven;
Or I'll burn for my offence.

I can see the path I have walked,
Behind me the comfort of what I know,
But I cannot see the path ahead of me
I don't know where this bridge will go.

All I know is that on the other end of this bridge,
You are reading these words I write,
And whilst my mind is lost in darkness,
Where you are there is my desired light.

I long for that light and solid ground,
Yet perhaps too much is bad for us.
Though I plead for warm light and safe footing,
Look what it did for Icarus.

So here I stand alone,
On this glass bridge I remain.
I'm scared to move lest I fall.
Will I ever feel safe again?

I'm here.
I'm here.
Please, someone find me.
I just heard the glass crack.

Feeling very unnerved today, like I'm standing on the edge of the cliff and the only thing keeping me from falling is a thin thread. I'm walking on a glass bridge that can shatter at any minute.
